| Revised 3/15/2005 |
The Valley Municipal Utility District#2 has two sources of water.
(1) A pump station at River Bend on the Rio Grande. Water is pumped from the Rio Grande thru a canal system to our Resaca at Rancho Viejo and then it goes to our surface plant.
(2) A Well located at the Water Plant in Rancho Viejo.
Water pumped from the well goes to the Reverse Osmosis Plant.
Within the system we have 3 storage tanks which hold a combined total of 675,000 gallons.
In January of 2005, your water supplier, Valley Municipal Utility District#2(VMUD#2),will be converting from chlorine to chloramine as their disinfectant. Chloramine is the combination of chlorine and ammonia. The conversion to chloramine will allow VMUD#2 to increase protection of public health, while meeting stricter state and federal water quality regulations, lowering risk of contamination, and improving taste and odor.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
**** My water is cloudly. What is wrong with it? *****
This is due to air bubbles in the water. Sometimes, when work is done on the pipes, air enters into the system and causes the water to appear milky for a short period of time.
**** How often do you send out bills? *****
Once a month for both residential and commercial accounts. They are sent out between the 1st and 3rd day of the month.
**** My water is coming out brown. What do I do? ****
1)It is possible someone has opened a fire hydrant in your area and the sediment on the bottom of the pipes has been pushed through. Run the hose in the front of the house until the water runs clear or run the faucet closest to the meter.
2)If it comes out in the hot water only, you should flush out your hot water heater.
3)If it has been going on for a long period of time, then it may be the pipes in your house and you will need to call your plumber.
